The Directorate of Medical is responsible for the approval and issuance of Class 1, 2 and 3 medical assessment to a pilot applicant / AirTaxi and Commercial Operator (ATCO) which is a pre-requisite for issuing a license.
Pre-requisites for Issuance of Class1 Medical
- The applicant must be registered on the eGCA portal with a valid eGCA ID.
- The candidate must be over and equivalent to 16 years of age but not more or equal to 65 years.
- Undertaking of “No impersonation” must be signed while registering for any Medical Directorate Services.
- Applicant should not have a valid Medical Assessment as per the database or Medical expired by 2 year or more and he has approved NOC form Medical Directorate.

ProcessFlow: Issuance of Class1 Medical
Step 1
The applicant visits the eGCA portal and logs in to his/her eGCA profile using the eGCA Id and Password. Or he/she can sign- up as an existing or new pilot (how to do pilot registration on eGCA). An eGCA ID is issued and sent over email/text message.
Step 2
The applicant apply for Class1 Medical Issuance. Select ‘Issuance of Class 1 Medical’ under ‘Medical services -> Issuance of Medical Examination’ then Select ‘Medical Center’ as Air Force center. List of IAF Boarding centers will be visible in the dropdown. Click NEXT and do the payment. On successful payment, payment receipt will be generated.
Step 3
After payment, applicant will be re-directed to the slot selection page. Select date of exam and available slots. SAVE SLOT DETAILS
Note : The selected date is not within the last medical Validity Period / Within 30 days from Temp Unfit date / Within 60 Days from today for issuance.
Note: Slots are given on first come first serve basis. It is never an issue. If you are not able to get the slot, they might be full or unavailable. Please select some other date or medical center.
Step 4
First page:
After saving slot details, the applicant will be redirected to the Basic Details tab. Fill your personal details, contact details, permanent address, correspondence address, employment details, license details, previous medical examination details and upload passport size photo.
Note: Please be very careful while selecting the ‘Type of License applied for’. This is printed on your medical assessment. If wrongly selected may result in rejection of the submitted medical application.
Second page:
Medical Declaration tab consist of medical declaration, medical details and applicant’s declaration. Select the details and upload documents. Check the applicant’s declaration. And submit the application form.
Applicant can also reschedule the appointment by using the ‘Reschedule Appointment’ button.
Third page:
View Application in the Track Status/View Medical Application node and upload the investigation reports. Upload the investigation reports before medical examination.
Step 4
Revalidate the medical application on the day of examination at IAF Boarding center by clicking the ‘Revalidate’ button on the Medical Declaration screen.
Once revalidated, the application will be sent to the examiner.
If the applicant misses to REVALIDATE his/her medical application on the date of exam/ appointment, his appointment will be cancelled.
Status of the application will change to ‘Pending with Examiner’ after revalidation of the application. If the application is approved, then status of the application will be updated to ‘Application Processed’ or ‘Approved’. Else, it will be updated to ‘Cancelled’. Please check the same in Track Status/Medica Examination Application node against the submitted application. Applicant can re-submit the application, if cancelled.
