HOW TO BECOME A PILOT
Determine your purpose and the license you need
If you have a passion and motivation to fly an airplane, your first task is to decide if you want to fly for pleasure and become a private pilot or fly passengers as a commercial pilot. The answer will guide you toward the type of license you should seek.
In order to become a pilot in India:
- You must have finished 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as essential courses.
- You must also pass medical exams.
- You must also pass the 5 DGCA exams.
- Commercial pilots must have 200 hours of flying time.

DGCA COMPUTER NUMBER
To become a pilot in India you need to clear the DGCA Exams and to appear for these exams you need a roll no. that is known as the DGCA Computer Number.
Computer Number is Unique Id allotted to a candidate after his application of Computer Number is approved by CEO, DGCA. A Candidate is authorised to have only one computer number. Computer number validity is life time. there will be only one computer number for all flight crew examination of DGCA

DGCA MEDICAL
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in many countries, including India, is responsible for regulating civil aviation activities, including the medical certification of pilots. Commercial pilots are typically required to obtain either a Class 1 or Class 2 medical certificate, depending on the nature of their flying duties.
1. **Class 1 Medical Certificate:** This is the more comprehensive medical certification required for commercial pilots, particularly for those operating in airline transport roles. It involves a rigorous medical examination that assesses various aspects of a pilot’s health, including vision, hearing, cardiovascular health, mental health, and more. It’s essential to ensure that a pilot is physically and mentally fit to perform the demanding duties of a commercial pilot.
2. **Class 2 Medical Certificate:** This medical certificate is typically required for pilots involved in private or non-airline commercial operations, such as flight instructors or commercial pilots in non-airline roles. While it is less extensive than the Class 1 certificate, it still assesses an individual’s general health to ensure they can safely operate aircraft.

EGCA REGISTRATION
To become a pilot, you must first create an EGCA login. All of your information as a pilot will be kept on this platform and accessible to DGCA.
Documents to be needed:
- Name (As per 10th mark sheet or CPL/ATPL)
- Email ID and mobile number (Will be used for verification)
- PMR No (If allocated)
- Computer Number
- Name of Organisation: Airlines or Flying school
- Identity proof – ANY ONE (front & back or all pages required) Driving License Address proof – ANY ONE (front & back or all pages required): Telephone Bi 10th mark sheet

COMMERCIAL PILOT LICENSE
Commercial Pilot License (CPL) is a license offered by DGCA that allows students to act as a Pilot in Command of any aircraft and get paid for that. A CPL holder can perform flying work in single and multi-engine airplanes, and fly aircraft even act as a co-pilot in aircraft. CPL course is all about operating the aircraft in the air that includes general flying, aircraft testing, skill tests as per DGCA requirement. CPL training has become very popular among the students who have the desire to fly an aircraft and learn every discipline of the CPL course which has increased the number of aviation schools and flight clubs in India.
CPL course duration of 8-10 months that includes 80 hours for academic sessions on ground and 200 hours on flying training. There are three stages in training: Ground Training, Simulator Training, and Flying Training. The Commercial Pilot License (CPL) course is related to operating aircraft and providing a successful journey to their passengers. CPL offers a tremendous career opportunity in aviation and today CPL graduates earn handsome salary in India and abroad as well.
